About the Band
How They Got Here
Having just released their debut album “The Murder” in November 2022, Black Corvus is an original Hard Rock/Metal band rising up in the Utah music scene.
Hailing for the small towns of Price & Helper Utah the members of the band have collaborated their talents to make Black Corvus what it is today. The original group has changed over the years along with the name, but the band officially became Black Corvus in 2019.
Brothers Tyson & Devin Farrell (Guitar & Bass) originally started rocking out and playing music together back in high school, trying to find members along the way to complete their lineup. They found it difficult in a small town to find other musicians who could commit along with an unfortunate series of tragedies that rendered the band unable to move forward. After losing the previous drummer, Mark Dickey stepped up in 2018 bringing his talent and a whole new vibe to the music. The band's lead singer at the time was having personal struggles and ended up leaving shortly after Mark had joined the band which left them unsure of what to do. In 2019 a chance conversation at the local music store where Mark worked brought in Nick Melosi, a classically trained vocalist, audio engineer and metalhead as their new lead singer.
Things were starting to look up for the band and the name Black Corvus was decided and their first demo tracks were released online. The group was getting geared up to play live shows when the pandemic lockdowns happened late 2019. They never lost hope and continued to push through, writing music until the restrictions were lifted and live performances became a thing again. Feeling like something was missing during that time, JB Johnson joined the group in 2021 bringing his own amazing flair to the band as a 2nd guitarist. With the musician lineup complete, Black Corvus began to play local shows and at venues all throughout Northern and central Utah.
Their first album “The Murder” began its production in 2021. The entire album was written, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered within the band and without the need of a recording studio. It was released to online platforms on November 11th 2022.
For the members of Black Corvus playing music is more than a hobby, it is a way of life. The band has a desire to bring their music to the world and get people thinking. Black Corvus can be described as a hard hitting in your face rock/metal band with the ability to appeal to a wide audience that has admitted to “Not liking metal music”. When the lights go down and the music turns up, Black Corvus brings the energy to any place they share their music.
